About The Slow Breath

The Slow Breath is a free reading library of plain-language articles on yoga poses, breathing, meditation, ayurveda and the study of the mind, with simple tools and challenges to practise what you read.

What we publish

Short, practical articles on yoga poses, breathing, meditation, ayurveda and the ideas in classical yoga texts and books on the mind. Each article ends with something you can try today.

How we write

Everything here is original commentary in our own words. When an article draws on a book or a classical text, we name it and describe the idea. We do not reproduce the text. Articles are educational and are not medical advice.

Who we are

The Slow Breath is a small independent publication about yoga, breath, ayurveda and the mind. The articles are written in plain language for beginners and for anyone returning to practice. We update an article when we find a clearer way to explain it.

We are not a medical service. Nothing here replaces advice from a qualified health professional.

Sources and copyright

We write our own commentary. When an article draws on a book or a classical text, we name it and describe its ideas in our own words, and we quote only a few short phrases. Classical texts such as the Yoga Sutras are in the public domain. We are not affiliated with the authors, publishers or communities we write about. If you are a rights holder with a concern about anything on this site, email us and we will respond promptly.
